# Close a Futures position

> Understand the reduce-only market close, the difference between Flatten and pause or continue, and how to verify the exchange has closed the position.

**Close position** requests a reduce-only market close of up to the current Futures position. ANSIO needs a fresh position reading before it can submit that request.

## Choose what happens afterward

| Option | What happens |
| - | - |
| Flatten & pause | Stops this bot and confirms cancellation of its quotes before requesting the close. Resuming requires your approval. |
| Flatten & continue | Keeps quoting. The bot may open a new position after the close. |

Manual orders are not cancelled by this flow.

> [!WARNING]
>
> The execution price can differ from the mark price. A market-close request is an instruction to the exchange, not confirmation that the position is already flat.

**1. Open Close position**

Read the pair and position size in the confirmation.

**2. Select pause or continue**

Choose whether the bot should remain stopped or keep quoting after the close.

**3. Confirm the close**

Use **Close position** only after reviewing that account, amount and behavior.

**4. Read the exchange result**

Wait for a fresh position update and look at any remaining size. If the response is uncertain, establish the current position before submitting another request.

If no fresh position is available, ANSIO refuses the close. If the fresh size is zero, the account is already flat.

## Autopilot after a manual close

A manual Stop or Flatten prevents Autopilot from silently restarting the bot. A new explicit approval is required. **Flatten & continue** is the deliberate choice to keep quoting within this close flow.
